Are you finding life stressful?
Are you experiencing difficulties in your personal or working life?
Would you like to talk to someone in confidence?
Counselling could be the answer to help you move on in your life........................
My name is Sue Bentley, I feel passionate about working as a counsellor and psychotherapist, having seen so many of my clients bring about changes in their lives and resolve their difficulties.
I originally trained as a nurse and worked in the NHS, private sector and with the terminally ill. My career then took me to managing a business for the next 20 years, travelling widely in the UK and overseas. During this time, realizing I was missing the close connection with people that I had experienced as a nurse, I trained as a massage therapist and worked as a volunteer in a hospice in London. This led me to training as a bereavement counsellor with a voluntary organisation and then to qualifying with a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling from the Metanoia Institute in London.
Since 1997 I have been working as a counsellor in a NHS GP practice in Surbiton, as well as for 12 years as a telephone counsellor, case manager and trauma consultant for an EAP (Employment Assistance Programme. My private practice in counselling and psychotherapy and trauma consultancy is based in Surbiton and I see clients from Surbiton, Kingston upon Thames and any local area in Surrey and South West London.
How do I work?
My model of working is always to hold my relationship with my client in mind. I use the person centred as well as an integrated approach, this means I use a variety of therapeutic strategies which may include solution focused, coaching, relaxation and mindfulness.
I have worked with clients of all ages, of different ethnic origins, sexual orientation and have experience of people with many different presenting issues including abuse (sexual, physical and emotional), addictions, anger management, anxiety, assertiveness, attachment, bereavement, bullying, career counselling, depression, eating disorders, emotional blackmail, gender, life skills, loss, low self confidence, low self esteem, relationships, sexuality, stress, trauma, work issues.
You may not be experiencing any of these things but just have a sense that there is more to life, not knowing how to find out what this is.
